Podcast setup

With Beamly, you can import and sync your existing podcasts, or create new shows directly on the platform.

Key concepts

  • Imported podcasts: Connected via an external RSS feed. Those always stay in sync from the source feed. You can use any podcast hosting provider - we support all of them.
  • Hosted podcasts: Created in-app, directly with Beamly. You can upload your episodes and media, add show notes and transcripts, and we generate and manage your RSS feed.
  • Public vs Private podcasts: Private feeds require a user token; public feeds are open. Distribution options adapt accordingly.

1. Import a Podcast

Once you import your existing podcast, you'll easily find all episodes, artwork/thumbnails, audio players, reviews, subscribe buttons and more content we're able to pull-in automatically.

You can import your podcast upon creating a new website (during the site setup wizard), or otherwise just import your podcast at any time through the main "Podcasts" screen in your dashboard instead.

2 Options for connecting your existing podcasts

  1. The easiest way to add your podcast is to search for an existing one in the form seen above. Once you find your show, click on it and hit the "Import" button.
  2. If your podcast is private or cannot be found via the search, you can always type the RSS feed URL directly and import from RSS.

Your site will automatically import new/future episodes as you publish them, so every time you release a new episode, it would automatically be imported onto the site for you - you don't have to create the episodes pages yourself!

Once you import your podcast, the homepage would instantly populate with your episodes and podcast details, simply refresh your homepage and you'll be able to start sharing your site in no time.

2. Create a new podcast

You can add podcasts during the new site onboarding or anytime from the dashboard via the Podcasts screen.

When you first create a podcast, you'd just need to provide the title, and an optional description and/or artwork. (all other settings can be updated as described in the next section) You can then start adding episodes immediately. Once you start adding episodes, we’ll create a hosted show with its own RSS feed.

Editing the Podcast Information

When you connect a podcast, we automatically import the title, artwork, description and a lot more data. If you want to edit any of the above, or add more info about the podcast hosts, link social networks or subscribe buttons, you can do that by going to the "Podcasts" screen, and click on the "Edit Podcast" icon (second button from the left on the podcast card) -

In addition to the "Edit Podcast" icon, you'll a button to view all episodes, one for reviews, and one to delete the entire podcast and episodes that are linked to it.

If your podcast is hosted on Beamly, you'll find some specific settings:

  • Some core settings about your show, as per the official Apple Podcasts / iTunes spec: Language, Explicit (yes/no), Complete (yes/no), Podcast Type (episodic/serial)
  • iTunes Categories (primary + optional secondary) - this is a required field for hosted podcasts, choose a category for your show. This category would be used on the podcast platforms like Apple Podcasts and others.
  • Keywords, Copyright, Author, Email (the email field is temporary for platform verifications)

Distribution

Hosted podcasts have a Distribution section where you can find info on how to submit your podcast to various platforms -

Public feeds:

  • Platform grid with either:
  • “Read Instructions” (manual submission with step‑by‑step guidance), or
  • Status/checks (listed via Apple ID/feed URL), or
  • “Submit” where supported (Podchaser integration).
  • “Copy RSS Feed URL” is always available.

Private feeds:

  • One-click subscribe links with your private token for Apple Podcasts, RSS, Castro, Downcast, Overcast, Pocket Casts, Podcast Addict, Podkicker.
  • Do not share these private URLs - they are user-specific!

Podcast Analytics

While Beamly currently doesn't offer built-in analytics for hosted podcasts, you can easily enable 3rd party analytics via Analytics Prefixes on your RSS feed. We support Podscribe, Spotify Ad Analytics, Podcorn, OP3, and Podtrac. Learn more about analytics prefixes.

Global Episode Signature

Add a Global Episode Signature in your podcast settings to append consistent content to all episode pages. This content appears below the show notes on every episode belonging to that podcast. Common uses include:
  • Sponsorship disclosures
  • Links to your membership or Patreon
  • Social media handles and calls-to-action
  • Legal disclaimers or credits
This saves time by eliminating the need to add repetitive content to each episode manually.

Default Episode Description Tag (Synced Podcasts)

When importing episodes from an external RSS feed, Beamly can pull content from different XML tags. In your podcast settings, you can choose which tag to use as the primary episode content:
  • Content Encoded - The full HTML show notes (most common)
  • Description - The plain-text description field
  • Summary - The summary field
This gives you control over which content appears on your episode pages, especially useful if your host populates these fields differently.

Updating synced podcasts after URL changes

If you're migrating all your episodes from one podcast hosting provider to another, some of your data might need to be refreshed with the new info. Once you've migrated to the new provider, you have to update your podcast as described above, and re-save it with the new RSS feed URL:

The next step would be to force a refresh of all your episode audio URLs, artwork images, and GUIDs.

Forcing a re-sync won't override any of your custom episode data (like show notes, guests, titles, categories etc.), but would only update data that is dependent of the host you're currently using. (like the audio file URLs, thumbnail URLs, GUIDs and more)

This can be done by clicking on the "Force Feed Re-Sync" link at the bottom -
