Player timestamps & deep links
Clickable timestamps let you to easily navigate to a specific point in time within an audio or video player. We're automatically parsing timestamps from your descriptions or transcripts so those are clickable by default.
Simply add text into the episode description that includes numbers in either HH:MM:SS or MM:SS format, and they'd automatically convert into smart links that navigate through your player.
For example, you can create a list of chapters like the following -
- (28:03) - Your first chapter title goes here
- (32:55) - Your second chapter title goes here
- (57:12) - Your third chapter title goes here
Note - the timestamps only work with the default audio player - not with any embedded player.
Importing timestamps from podcast RSS feeds
Beamly automates this part for you when you import a podcast from an external feed. Some feeds include support for the Podcasting 2.0 Namespace standard (more on that here). If your feed includes the "soundbite" tag with pre-defined timestamps, they would be imported automatically and added to your episode descriptions.
Even if your feed does not officially support the <soundbite> tag, we can still import numbers in the HH:MM:SS or MM:SS formats make those clickable automatically.
Deep Links
Generate URL links that point to an individual entry on your site at a specified time.
If you want your website visitors to land on an episode or video page and start playing from a specific point in time, you can use our deep linking feature.
When you share your links, simply add the ?t=01234 parameter to the URL. (the "01234 " number in this example should be changed to the point in time you want, and stands for the number of seconds that should be skipped)
Then any visitor who reach one of these links, can start playing the media at that point right away.
Example: site.com/episode-url?t=120
