Site Settings

The Site Settings screen is where you can set and adjust all the basic settings that affect your site (typically not design-related). In the "General" settings screen, you'll be able to connect your domain, change your email settings, SEO options, translate the site and more.

Here's a breakdown of all the different sections -

  • Domain settings - This section includes your custom domain and the "branded" subdomain that is being used on the beam.ly   domain. When you're within the free trial period, you'll only be able to change your subdomain ( for example, my-cool-sub-domain.beam.ly ) but not the custom domain.

To change the custom domain, upgrade your plan and follow the instructions. Please refer to the following help page for a more detailed look at your Domain Settings.

  • Team - Invite collaborators to help you manage your website. Read more here.

  • Analytics - Get your website stats and visitor information in a built-in site analytics dashboard. This feature is only available on the Business plan. More info can be found here.

  • Meta & SEO - To make sure your website is fully optimized for SEO, we recommend that you add the site information, description and a default image to this section. This would help quite a bit in terms of improving your SEO score, and eventually getting your site ranked higher on search engines.

This section includes the default site title/tagline, meta description, social sharing images, site icon (favicon) and more. You can even set a custom robots.txt file or an ads.txt file to support a higher degree of customization, but remember this is an advanced setting to use it wisely.

  • Email - Here you can:
    • Change the default target email address (where messages are sent to via forms on the website). It defaults to your account's email address, but you can set it to any other email as needed.
    • Adjust notification settings - you get updates whenever something happens on your site, and here you can control those.
    • All incoming contact form messages and voicemail entries are listed here as well.

  • Custom Code - If you need to add custom JavaScript code to your website's <head> section, add the code here. You can add multiple scripts, and they would load on all of your pages. Make sure to always include the <script></script>, <meta> or <link /> tags. when you use this section.

  • Media - Manage all images uploaded to the site, copy links to images or upload new files in bulk.

  • Redirects - Set redirects to any other internal or external URL.

  • Translations - translate your website into another language. There are several default texts we use on buttons, error messages, warnings, tooltips, and more. Here you can change all those default texts to your own language. Read more about translating your website here.
