Gated Content / Access
Beamly's built-in membership and monetization features allow you to restrict access to your content. To restrict access to certain content, you must first set up a membership plan or one-time product. Content you set as restricted would be unavailable to visitors who do not have appropriate access.
Gated content is great for many different use-cases, You can upload bonus podcast episodes for free or paid members, add a member-only video library, publish premium course lessons, resource pages, downloads and more. It's also a handy for quickly creating lead magnets.
What type of content can be gated / restricted on Beamly?
- Entire podcasts, or individual podcast episodes. (private, member-only podcast feeds are generated in both cases) .
- Entire video channels or individual videos.
- Blog posts or the entire blog.
- Custom pages.
- Courses or individual lessons.
- Digital downloads through plans/products.
How gated content shows up on your website?
All restricted pages still show up on the site, but only display the basic information like the title and short description (excerpt). The full content and media isn't visible to people without access.
It also includes a CTA to prompt visitors to upgrade their plan to view the content -

- If content is attached to one plan/product, users outside that access level cannot view it.
- Content can be attached to multiple plans/products when needed.
- Free plan access mirrors into paid plans/products based on current behavior.
- Visitors still see a public preview with CTA where applicable.
Restricting content on plans and products
When you create or modify a plan/product, you can add content restriction levels for multiple types of content -

- Podcasts - when you add a podcast to a plan, all related episodes would become restricted.
- Video Channels - just like podcasts, adding a channel to a membership tier would affect all related episodes.
- Blog - You can set the entire blog as restricted to set all individual posts as restricted.
- Pages - You can add any custom page(s) you have on your site.

Restricting individual posts / episodes
Individual entries can be modified separately, within the edit form of each episode/video/post.
On your podcasts and video channels, you can flag individual episodes and videos as private by associating them with a plan (or multiple plans) -

Once you select the appropriate tier, the episode would become private and only load for people with access.
The same process also applies for your blog. When you create or edit blog posts, you can associate each individual post with a membership plan, product (or multiple ones) as needed -

A few important notes -
-
Once you add any type of content to a plan (including the Free plan) or a product, this content becomes unavailable for visitors. (unless they've gained access to it by subscribing to a plan)
-
When you associate an item with just one plan or product, it also becomes unavailable on the other plans you have. If you need a certain item to be available on multiple plans or products, make sure to add it to all those plans/products.
-
When a subscribed member or customer who has access to certain parts of the site tries to access a page that is not included in their original plan/product - they would see the call-to-action widget and be able to switch their plan to a higher tier.
- Any content and rules you have on your Free plan would automatically mirror on your paid subscription plans and products.
